nad+

nAD+

What is NAD+?

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) is a coenzyme that plays a crucial role in many metabolic processes within our body. As we age, NAD+ levels begin to drop, thus affecting overall energy levels. Supplementing NAD+ can have many benefits for overall health:

  • Addiction treatment
  • Muscle recovery
  • Anti-aging
  • Improvements in neurocognitive functions
  • Athletic performance improvements
  • Weight loss

Which is the best route to receive NAD+?

Oral versus IV: NAD+ is very sensitive to light, temperature, and moisture therefore it may be unstable in pill form. With pill form, NAD+ needs to pass through the digestive tract and that is another reason for instability and slow bioavailability. Due to this degradation, oral NAD+ typically includes precursors that must go through three enzymatic steps to convert to readily available NAD+. In short, NAD+ in pill form is not the best option and you may not be getting much for your money.

NAD+ Infusion

IV Infusion remains the best way to bypass the use of NAD+ precursors and provide the body with an immediate source of NAD+, which has been shown with uptake into the tissues after two hours of administration. Unfortunately, there is not a ton of research on NAD+ but the research that there is, is very promising and is why we offer this amazing product.

What is recommended?

It's best to titrate NAD+ therapy so that patients can build tolerance. First doses should be given IV and run over at least two hours to prevent side effects from occurring during transfusion. NAD+ should typically be given as a monotherapy due to high reactions to other medications when mixed together in one bag of fluid. That is why when you come into Renewed Vitality and Wellness, you can relax, watch TV and receive red light therapy while you are being infused with your NAD+ treatment.

What are the potential side effects with NAD+ treatment?

NAD+ therapy is generally safe and well tolerated but it is important to be aware of treatment side effects that you may experience. During your NAD+ infusion, you may experience flushing, nausea and GI disturbance. You may get a headache, feel light headedness and feel dizzy. All of these side effects can be controlled with turning the infusion off or slowing it down and all should resolve once the infusion is complete. It is recommended to do IV infusion when first starting this treatment.
